About visualization reporting
Using visualization reporting, you can visually explore your Axiom data. Visualization reports display data using a variety of interactive data visualization tools, such as charts, tables, maps, matrices, and KPIs. You can easily filter and drill this data to gain insights into your organization.
Visualization reports can be created, viewed, and edited from the Intelligence Center in the Web Client. Visualization reports are stored in the Reports Library just like other reports.
NOTE: Visualization reporting is a cloud-based feature that is only available in Axiom Cloud systems. Visualization reports rely on an engineered data model and specifically licensed features, which are only available in conjunction with certain Axiom products. If you currently license Axiom industry-specific products, please review your product documentation for details regarding the availability of visualization reporting. Alternatively, if you would like to independently use Microsoft PowerBI to query your existing Axiom data set, please refer to this article to instruct your information technology professionals to establish an OData connection.
Architecture and administration for visualization reporting
The visualization reporting solution leverages Microsoft Power BI to provide access to industry-leading business intelligence reporting. The Axiom Cloud provides the necessary infrastructure to support using Power BI as part of your Axiom system.
Visualization reporting requires a defined data model that specifies the Axiom data to be available in reports. This model is provided by your Axiom product installation, and is designed to provide access to the most useful data for business intelligence reporting. All data within the model can be used in visualization reports. Currently, Axiom does not support modifying the provided model or creating additional custom models.
Visualization reporting can leverage several different types of models, and different products may use different model types. Although the end user reporting interface is essentially the same for all model types, different model types leverage different features for administrative functionality such as model security and data refresh. For more information on general considerations, see:
Ultimately, you should consult your product documentation for specifics regarding the administration requirements of your product's model.
Creating and accessing visualization reports
Visualization reports are created in Axiom using an embedded Microsoft Power BI editor. You can create a new report and launch this editor using the Intelligence Center in the Web Client. For more information, see Managing visualization reports.
The data source shown in the report editor is the Axiom data defined in the product model. You can use this data in a wide array of Power BI visualizations, and set up various interactivity options for the report, such as filtering and drilling. For more information, see Using the visualization report editor.
End users can view visualization reports using the Web Client browser. In the Web Client, visualization reports can be accessed as follows:
- Using the Intelligence Center
- Using the Navigation menu in the Web Client Task bar
- Using links within a product web page
Visualization reports are also visible in the Desktop Client General term for using either the Excel Client or the Windows Client, both of which are installed to the user's desktop. in the Reports Library. Visualization reports use the ABI file type, and are distinguished from other types of reports using a special icon . When a visualization report is launched from the Desktop Client, it opens in the Web Client browser. For more information, see Viewing visualization reports.
