Managing security for visualization reporting
Security for visualization reporting is controlled as follows:
-
Report file security is controlled using the Files tab of security, just like any other report type in Axiom. Users can only see and open report files if they have at least read-only access, and they can only edit report files if they have read/write access. Additionally, any user with read/write access to a folder in the Reports Library (or access to My Documents) can create a new report file.
-
Data security is controlled using special security features for visualization reporting. The specific features used to control access to data in a data model depends on the type of model. Model security may be managed in one of three ways:
-
Some model types use the AI Tables tab in the Axiom Security Manager to control access to data in the model.
-
Some model types use permissions that are maintained outside of the Axiom Security Manager, but still allow you to restrict access to data in the model by users and roles defined in Axiom. In this case, the product that delivered the model will provide a utility for you to manage these permissions.
-
Some model types do not use security permissions, because these models cannot be used to create new reports. Instead, access to data in the model is controlled by restricting access to product-delivered reports that use the model. If a user has permission to access the report, then they have permission to view the data in the model. These reports are configured so that they cannot be edited.
