Process Manager dialog

Use the Process Manager dialog to view the status of current processes and to view process history. From this dialog you can also view process details, edit the process definition, and stop or start a process. This dialog is only available to administrators, and to process owners who have file access to at least one process definition.

Current Processes

This section lists all current processes in the system.

  • By default, only active processes are listed in the Current Processes section. This is so you can see process status at a glance for all active processes.
  • You can select Show inactive processes to see a list of all processes. In this case, the most recent execution of the process is listed under Current Processes. If the process has been aborted or completed (or never started), then the Current Step is not applicable.

NOTE: Administrators see all processes. Process owners only see the processes that they own.

For each process listed in the Current Processes section, you can select the process and then use the toolbar to perform the following actions:

Item Description
View Details View details about the selected process. This opens the Process Status dialog, where you can view details and status on a per step basis. If a step is stalled, you can reactivate the step using this dialog.
Edit Process Edit the process definition for the selected process. This opens the Edit Process dialog, where you can edit any of the process properties. If the process is active, some edits may not be allowed because they would invalidate the currently active process. If the process is aborted or completed, any changes to the process will apply the next time the process is started.
Stop

Stop the selected process. When you stop a process, all current tasks are deleted and the process status changes from Active to Aborted. If the process definition is started again later, a new process instance will be created and the process will start over from the first step. There is no way to restart a particular process instance at the step it was on when it was stopped.

Start Start the selected process. The process will become active at step 1 using a new process instance. This new process instance will replace the current instance (which now becomes process history).

Process History

This section lists the history for each time the process has been run (identified by the start date and end date of the process instance). When you select a process in the Current Processes section, the history is displayed in the Process History section.

To view the details for a prior instance of the process, select the item in the list and then click the View Details button above the Process History list. (Make sure to click the View Details button that is directly over the Process History list, not the button that is above the Current Processes list.)

If you no longer need the history for a particular process instance, you can select one or more items in the Process History list and then click Delete.

If no process history is available in this section, this means that either the process has never been run, or that all previous history has been deleted.
