Work with drivers

Driver files include rates, statistics, and other data types that are referenced by each budget to help calculate planning data. Drivers can also include global values such as calendar information.

The data in driver files is stored in the Axiom database into one or more driver tables. The files in a budget file group, such as active budgets, scenarios, and forecasts, reference the driver file data to calculate planning data or determine other global settings.

To set up drivers, add or edit a financial planning or payroll planning budget.

Financial planning budget drivers

The following table lists the drivers that are available for financial planning budgets:

Account Growth	Configure global growth rates that are incorporated into the following calculation methods: Annual Growth Rate Annual Growth Rate with Manual Adjustments Cash Flow Input Detail Input Monthly Input Total Non-Interest Prepaid Contract Simple Interest
Add New Budget Accounts	Add existing GL accounts to a specified department's plan file in cases where a department does not have historical results for a GL account
Balance Sheet Account Settings	Configure settings for balance sheet accounts.
Balance Sheet Allocation	Add new balance sheet allocation drivers to the database
Balance Sheet Projection Drivers	Contains method drivers for balance sheet accounts that use the Cash Flow, Non-Interest, and Simple Interest calculation methods. IMPORTANT: You must first configure the Interest Rate and New Volume Amortization Patterns drivers.
Bank Balance Account Assignment	Contains driver inputs for the Bank Balancer utility.
Cash Flow Forecaster	Contains drivers related to the Cash Flow Forecaster that are unique to each file group.
Fixed Assets	Contains a list of fixed asset types that are referenced by the New Fixed Asset calculation method of the Development Template Capital sheet.
Interest Rate	Contains projected interest rates and FTP rates that are used by the Cash Flow Forecaster and balance sheet planning templates.
Loan Loss Category	Provides the organizational structure for the Loan Loss Reserve utility.
New Volume Amortization Patterns	Contains amortization patterns that are applied to Cash Flow calculation method new volume balances.
Other Rates	Stores rates to use in the planning process.
Prepaid Contracts	Configure existing prepaid contracts in the database.
Tax Rates	Contains tax rates that are used by Bank Balancer to calculate the incremental tax expense related to balancing entries.

Payroll budget drivers

The following table lists the drivers for payroll budgets:

Driver	Description
Benefit Projections	Contains projected monthly expenses for benefits that look up expenses. This driver contains percentage rates for benefits that calculate expenses based on compensation levels.
Benefits	Contains benefit-related expenses that are planned at the employee level.
Job Codes	Lists the job codes to match new employees to benefits plans and amounts.
Merit Increase	Lists merit increase values by pay grade for specified ranges.
Payroll Accounts	Contains a list of General Ledger (GL) accounts that are mapped to Payroll Items for each company.
Payroll Calendar	Specifies the number of work hours per month for payroll budgeting.
Payroll Taxes	Contains formulas to calculate federal and state payroll taxes.
