Shortcuts
Axiom Software supports defining shortcuts to files and to other items listed in Axiom Explorer. These shortcuts can be used in areas such as:
- Axiom forms, to open files using a Button or a URL
- Favorites, to link to frequently used files for quick access
- Ribbon tabs, to open files from a ribbon tab
- Startup tab in Security, to define files to open at startup
- Task panes, to open files from a task pane
Shortcuts use the database ID of the shortcut target to identify the item to open. This means that if a file is a shortcut target and that file is moved to a different location, the shortcut will still work. However, if the shortcut target is deleted and another file is saved to the same location with the same name, the shortcut will not work because the new file does not have the same database ID.
Some file types have additional shortcut parameters that determine the behavior of the item when opened. This section details the available settings and behavior for each major file type and other Axiom Explorer items.
In some contexts, shortcuts can also use items from the Command Library, which allows you to link to Axiom features. For more information on these commands, see Command Library.
