Enabling or disabling the message stream for Axiom files
Each Axiom file can optionally use the message stream, where users can comment on the file and view other users' comments.
If enabled, the message stream displays as follows:
-
For spreadsheet Axiom files open in the Desktop ClientGeneral term for using either the Excel Client or the Windows Client, both of which are installed to the user's desktop., users can use the Message Stream task pane to view and add comments. For more information, see Commenting on documents using the Message Stream task pane.
-
For Axiom forms open in any client, users can use the Message Stream panel to view and add comments. For more information, see Commenting on form documents. The Web Client Container must be enabled for the form in order to access the message stream. The container is enabled by default.
The message stream is enabled or disabled on a per file basis. The availability of the message stream for a document is controlled by the Enable Message Stream setting on the default Control Sheet. You can set this to On or Off as needed for each Axiom file.
By default, the message stream is disabled for all newly created Axiom files. If you change this setting from Off to On or vice versa, you must close and reopen the file in order for the message stream to become visible or hidden for the file.
Comments made to the message stream are stored permanently. Currently, there is no way to delete comments.
NOTES:
-
If you want the message stream to be available for plan files, then the message stream should be enabled for the template used to create plan files.
-
The message stream does not display for Axiom forms that are used as dialogs or task panes in the Desktop Client, even if the message stream is enabled for the file.
