General Availability releases
GA 2024.1 (2/12/24)
This release includes the following updates.
New features
This release includes the following new features:
Support for multiple planning entities
Previous versions of Strategic Financial Planing (SFP) limited institutions to a single entity of type “University." This process meant that plan data for all departments and initiatives included in a scenario followed a single data flow through all tabs within a scenario and arrived at a single balance sheet. Additionally, initiatives and drivers were globally available to all scenarios.
With the release of multi-entity planning for SFP, institutions can now configure multiple university entities and map departments, initiatives, and drivers to a specific entity. Accounts can be activated or inactivated as relevant for each entity. Scenario plan data is separated by entity, so institutions that need to plan multiple balance sheets can do so within a single SFP file group.
Navigation to scenarios, initiatives, and drivers was updated to reflect the new capability to support scenarios, initiatives, and drivers by entity. Navigate to any of these sections by first accessing a summary “Planning” section from any page within SFP. This section presents a list of all entities that were configured by SFP admins. Users can navigate to the scenarios, initiatives, and drivers within a specific entity and configure security access.
Within a scenario, initiative, or driver, existing SFP users will not notice significant differences from previous functionality. However, to fully use the new multi-entity feature, institutions with existing installations of SFP should review their data load process to verify that data is populated and routed to entities as expected.
Enhancements
This release includes the following enhancements to existing features:
Updates to usage of the term “Baseline”
Previous versions of Strategic Financial Planning used the term “Baseline” when referring to the Statement of Activities. For clarity, this term was updated in the following locations:
- Scenario creation and scenario sections
- Initiative creation and initiative sections
- Driver types
The term “Baseline” is still used when referring to a starting point upon which adjustments are entered.
File group sync
In some cases, product updates include changes to product data and dimension tables to support new functionality. Previously, a product update would not update the tables for the active file group to align with the prototype. New file groups received the updates, but current and active file groups required manual updates. Using the file group sync feature, admins can automatically push the updates to tables that support current and active file groups.
This sync functionality is available to SFP admins on the Settings page.
Issues fixed
This release resolved the following issues:
Issue | Description |
---|---|
Depreciation calculation in historical columns is incorrect [79363] |
Issue: {Actual2} through {Actual5} columns used the depreciation rate as calculated in the {Actual1} year. Resolution: Depreciation rate calculations in actual years were updated to reflect the correct rate per year. |
Delete scenarios feature spins/does not complete deletion [85300] |
Issue: Delete scenarios feature spins functionality does not complete deletion, depending on the scenario configuration. Resolution: Delete scenario logic was corrected. |
