Outpatient module

The Clinical Analytics Outpatient Module is available to all Clinical Analytics clients providing these data. This includes ambulatory surgery and hospital-based outpatient encounters. Check with your facility’s Clinical Analytics Administrator or contact Support if you have questions about accessing Outpatient capabilities.

Outpatient capabilities include 3 basic profile types; click the links below for more information about the encounters, grouping types, and measures associated with each profile type.

Patient/Profile types

• Outpatient Diagnostics and Ambulatory Surgery Center
• Emergency Department
• Inpatient and Observation

Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) grouper

All Outpatient Diagnostics & ASC and Emergency Department encounters are run through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) grouper and are assigned a principal APC based on CMS's standard APC weightings. These APCs can then be used for benchmarking and opportunity calculations, profile filtering, and other analysis through Details View and the Clinical Case Summary. Inpatient & Observation encounters are classified with MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs.
