What data are available in Clinical Analytics?
The data in Clinical Analytics come from both internal and external sources.
- Your organization's internal data come from a variety of sources.
- Encounter-level data typically come from an organization’s billing system.
- Cost and charge detail is sent from a cost accounting system (or the billing system when costing isn’t present).
- Other data such as HCAHPS and core measures are generally exported from other vendor systems.
- External data used for benchmarking is procured by Clinical Analytics from a variety of sources.
- The Medicare dataset is obtained through CMS MedPAR data files.
- All Payer datasets are obtained through HCUP or directly from individual states; sometimes these data are accessed on behalf of and in partnership with our client hospital organizations.
- Other sources of external data include Hospital Compare, The Joint Commission, AHRQ, and Cost Reports.
How often are data loaded and refreshed?
The frequency of data loads for internal client data is determined by the client. Data loads can be as frequent as desired and can range anywhere from weekly to monthly. The “News” section of your Home page provides detailed information about loaded data, including when it was last loaded, and the time frame of all loaded data.
Data refreshes (to capture any billing changes/updates) for internal client data are also determined by the client. Regular ongoing data loads can capture refreshes or refresh files can be sent separately. For example, some clients send regular ongoing data files that include the most recent month of new data, as well as a refresh of YTD data.
