Creating and managing initiatives

Use the Initiatives tab to create initiatives that can be layered in with scenarios. Initiatives must be associated with a driver.

To create an initiative:

  2. On the Create Initiative page, in the Basics tab, do the following:
    1. In the Initiative Name text field, enter an initiative name.
    2. In the Description text field, enter a description for your initiative.
    3. Click the Group drop-down to select a group for the initiative you are creating. If a relevant group does not exist, click Create Group to create a new group.

    4. Click the Driver drop-down to select a driver to associate with your initiative.
  3. Click Create initiative.
  4. On the initiative plan page that displays, type a value in the blue text fields to add adjustments to displayed amounts.
  5. Click Save.

Cloning initiatives

Axiom Strategic Financial Planning allows you to clone an initiative. This allows you to quickly create a new initiative using the same data and settings used for an existing initiative.

A cloned initiative will not be connected to a scenario, even if the initiative you used to create the clone is connected to a scenario. A cloned initiative needs a unique name as no initiatives can share the same name.

To clone an initiative:

  1. Click the arrow icon in the Name column to expand an initiative group.

  2. Click the box in the Name column associated with the initiative that you want to clone.

  3. Click the Clone icon.

NOTE: You can only clone one initiative at a time. The Clone icon will not display if you select multiple initiatives or if you select an initiative group.

  4. In the Clone dialog that displays, do the following:
    1. In the Clone Name text field, type a name for the new initiative.
    2. In the Clone Description text field, type a description for the new initiative.
    3. Click the Group drop-down to select a group for the initiative you are creating. If a relevant group does not exist, click Create New in the drop-down to create a new group.

  5. Click Clone.

Grouping initiatives

Initiative groups allow you to organize initiatives into sets. For example, you may want to combine multiple initiatives related to the creation of a new nursing program into a single group for the nursing program. You can create a new group anytime from the Initiatives tab.

To create an initiative group:

  1. On the Initiatives tab, click the folder icon.

  2. In the Create a Group dialog, in the Name field, type a name for your group.
  3. Click Create.

Deleting initiatives and groups

To delete an initiative or initiative group:

  1. On the Initiatives tab, click the square in the Name column to select the associated initiative or initiative group.

IMPORTANT: If you delete an initiative group, Axiom will delete all initiatives within that group.

  2. Click the trash can icon.

  3. In the Confirm delete dialog that displays, click Delete.
