Workflows Tab
The PPE Workflow functionality in Physician Practice Evaluation (PPE) Reporting allows users to distribute physician reports to reviewers, including physicians, in whatever configuration you need to. This will keep all the reports, comments, and reviews in one place to revisit at any time.
The image below diagrams a few potential configurations for workflows, but, as with other things in Axiom Clinical Analytics, workflows are fully customizable to fit your needs.
Setting Up the Workflow
Start by naming the workflow and deciding whether or not to include annotations in the final report. This will include or exclude the comments added by any of the reviewers throughout the workflow process.
Reviewer Hierarchy
This is where you set up the levels and choose which reviewers to put in each level. Reviewers must be Clinical Analytics users, but physicians don’t need to be; they will receive and email with their report attached once the workflow gets to that level. Physicians do not need to be selected in the Workflow, as they will be selected in the Distribution.
Customizing
To add a reviewer to a level, click the “+ Add Reviewers” button and select one or multiple users. To add a level, click the “+ Add Level” button and another level will be added to the visual. Deleting a level or user can be done by using the trash can icon on either display. You can also move reviewers from one level to the next using the arrows in the top left corner of each user’s settings.
All of the settings seen in the image above will be the same for each reviewer. They are explained further in the below table.

Can Reject | This allows the user to reject the reports when reviewing them. |
Need Signature | This requires the user to add a signature to the reports to approve them. |
Can Annotate | This allows the user to add comments to the report as they are reviewing it. |
Send Final File | This includes this person on an email with the completely reviewed file that can include the comments left by each reviewer, depending on additional settings selected. |
Email Settings
This section as three different preset emails that will be sent to each of the reviewers throughout the review process that you can customize. The three different emails are sent when a user has a pending review, to remind a reviewer to complete pending items, and when there is a final reviewed file.
You can customize the emails using the placeholders available, as well as how frequently the email reminders are sent to the reviewers.
Using the Workflow
To utilize the workflow functionality, you will need to set up a distribution on the Distributions tab and connect the workflow to one or more distributions. Once the reports are run, the workflow process will start at level one. At that time, Health System Coordinators will be able to see all the workflows in process on their PPE Dashboard tab, other users will only see the workflows they have been included in on the Dashboard tab.
