KB1024
Word or PowerPoint tries to save documents to Axiom unexpectedly
Summary
Saving a file in Microsoft Word or PowerPoint prompts you to save the document or presentation to Axiom unexpectedly. The issue occurs whether or not you have the Axiom Desktop Client running on your workstation.
Details
When the Word or PowerPoint add-in for Axiom is installed, it remains active within your Word or PowerPoint installation. This allows you to open or save files that are stored in the Axiom database directly from within Word or PowerPoint. Every time you launch Word or PowerPoint, the Axiom add-in is enabled by default. While the add-in is active, it may prompt you to save a Word or PowerPoint file to the Axiom database instead of saving to a local directory on your workstation.
The add-ins are installed automatically when you open a Word or PowerPoint file that is stored within the Axiom database. You can also manually install the add-ins by clicking the Word or PowerPoint add-in links in the Quick Launch menu of the Web Client. For more information, see Installing the Word or PowerPoint add-in.
Resolution
The issue may be resolved by logging out of the Axiom add-in, or by disabling or removing the add-in. There is a separate add-in for Word and PowerPoint, and you may have both or only one installed on your workstation. The resolution steps need to be performed in each application where the add-in is installed.
To log out of Axiom from Word or PowerPoint:
- Launch Word or PowerPoint.
- Click on the Axiom tab.
- Click Log Out .
Once you are logged out, Word or PowerPoint defaults to saving files locally to your workstation. If you would like to log back into Axiom from Word or PowerPoint, see Logging into Axiom from Word or PowerPoint.
If you no longer need the Word or PowerPoint add-in, and you prefer to remove it from your workstation, see Disabling or uninstalling the Word or PowerPoint add-in.
Outcome
Once you are logged out of the Axiom add-in (or if it is removed or disabled), you will no longer be prompted to save a Word or PowerPoint file to Axiom.
