Designating the plan file process for a file group
Each file group can have a designated plan file process in the file group properties. The designated plan file process is used as follows:
- The Process Directory web page and the Process Summary component use this property to determine which process to display for the file group.
- When new plan files are created for an on-demand file group, they are automatically started in the designated plan file process.
- When plan files are copied from one file group to another when completing a process step, they can be automatically started in the designated plan file process.
Generally speaking, it is a good idea to designate a plan file process for the file group even if the file group is not using any of these features. Any new enhancements to plan file processes are likely to leverage this property, and it can be handy to have an official place to verify which plan file process is the primary process for the file group.
Only administrators and users with one of the following security permissions can edit file group properties: Administer File Groups and Modify File Group.
To designate the plan file process for a file group:
-
On the Axiom tab, in the Administration group, click Manage > File Groups.
The Axiom Explorer dialog opens, with the focus on the File Groups folder.
-
Locate the file group that you want to edit, then right-click it and select Edit.
TIP: You can also do this from the Explorer task pane.
-
In the Edit File Group dialog, on the Options tab, do the following:
-
Click the Browse button to the right of the Plan File Process box.
-
In the Axiom Explorer dialog, select the plan file process definition that you want to designate as the primary process for the file group, and then click Open.
This dialog is filtered to only show processes in the Process Definitions folder for the current file group. Note that if the file group has standard process definitions, those files will also display here but they cannot be designated as the plan file process for the file group.
Once you have selected the process, the name of the process displays in the Plan File Process box.
-
- Click Apply or OK to save the change.
You can clear or change this property at any time.
