Displaying Axiom data in PowerPoint slides
Currently, the Microsoft PowerPoint add-in for Axiom does not support the ability to directly query live data from the system. However, there are a variety of ways that you can display data from Axiom within PowerPoint slides.
Option 1: Use File Processing to generate spreadsheet data for use in PowerPoint
You can use the File Processing feature in Axiom to generate a spreadsheet snapshot that contains a particular set of data, and save this output file to your local network. You can set up grids and charts that reference this data and display them in PowerPoint slides. To update the data, you can use Scheduler to run a File Processing task at regular intervals. For more information, see:
Option 2: Export data to a data warehouse or internal data mart
You can use the Export feature in Axiom to push data directly to a data warehouse or internal data mart. Tools such as Tableau and PowerPoint can use the consolidated data set in the data warehouse, including any other organizational data in that warehouse. To update the data, you can use Scheduler to run an Export task at regular intervals. For more information, see:
Alternatively, you can use the Axiom OData API in your custom solutions to access data from the Axiom database. Information technology professionals can use the OData API to enable connectivity from third-party tools such as Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI, Qlik, and any others that follow the OData standard.
Option 3: Paste snapshots of Axiom dashboards into PowerPoint
You can create a dashboard using Axiom forms, and then paste a snapshot of that dashboard into a PowerPoint slide. In many cases, a disconnected "point-in-time" display of Axiom data in a PowerPoint slide deck is the best practice. If a live data link were used instead, the data in the deck could be different based on who opened the deck and when they opened it. A static offline snapshot ensures that the content of the slides does not change unexpectedly.
To create a "snapshot" of the dashboard, you can open the dashboard in your browser and either take a screenshot or print to PDF. The screenshot or PDF can then be inserted in PowerPoint as needed. The File Processing feature can also be used to generate PDF snapshots of Axiom forms. For more information, see:
