Save As dialog
Use the Save As dialog to save a file to the Axiom Software file system. This dialog is used when you:
- Save a new file for the first time.
- Save a copy of an existing file using Save > Save As (Repository).
Folders and files
The left-hand pane of the dialog displays the folders that you have access to. The right-hand pane of the dialog displays the files currently in the selected folder.
The new file will be saved in the currently selected folder. You must have read/write access to a folder in order to save a file there. A lock icon displays next to folders where you do not have read/write permissions to any folder within that folder tree.
By default, the dialog only displays files with the same file extension as the current file. If you want to view all files, you can toggle the view by selecting View > Show All Files. This setting will be remembered.
File properties
In the bottom section of the dialog, you can define the following properties for the file you are saving:
- File name: If you are saving a new file for the first time, or if you are saving a copy of an existing file, you should change the name to something appropriate for the new file.
- Description: You can define a description for the file, for display in the Reports Library dialog and in Axiom Explorer.
Once the file has been saved, the description can be edited within Axiom Explorer. If you do not have access to Axiom Explorer, you can use Save As (Repository) to save the file as the same name, and edit the description.
Actions
To save the file, select the desired folder, define the file name and description, and then click OK.
The following additional actions are available when you right-click a folder in the Reports Library, if you have read/write access to that folder:
- New Folder: Create a new folder within the selected folder.
- Delete: Delete the selected folder.
- Rename: Rename the selected folder.
