Processing files that require iterative calculations
Some clients have files that require iterative calculations, due to intentional circular references in the calculations. However, it is generally not a good idea to simply enable the iterative calculation option for Microsoft Excel in order to accommodate this, because the option will then apply to all files, which will slow performance in files where it is unnecessary. Instead Axiom Software supports the ability to temporarily enable this option for specific files and processes.
There are two ways you can process a file using iterative calculations: using Scheduler, or using the Refresh command in a task pane.
In Scheduler, the File Processing task and the Process Document List task now have an option to Enable iterative calculation while processing. If this option is enabled, then iterative calculations will be enabled for the processing of the target file. The iterative calculation settings are fixed at a maximum of 100 iterations and a maximum change value of .001.
If you need to calculate a file using iterative calculations from within the Axiom client, you can set up a custom task pane or a custom ribbon tab (including customizing the default Axiom tab or Axiom Designer) to use the Refresh Axiom Queries command from the Command Library. In the shortcut parameters, select Enable Iterative calculation. You can then use this task pane to refresh any file that requires iterative calculations.
