2019.3 – Known issues resolved

The following table lists the resolutions for issues addressed in 2019.3, released on September 16, 2019:

Issue Description Description
Initiatives Template - Save validation incorrectly detects duplicates when initiative measure matches parts of others [TFS 32936]

Summary: Sometimes when a user adds a measure to an Initiative, the save validation incorrectly detects duplicates when the user saves the Initiative. The logic to determine if there are duplicate measures being added to the template does not work as expected in certain cases.

Resolution: Corrected by updating the validation logic to remove the possibility of false positives when detecting added measures.

Initiatives Template - Save validation lists duplicate measure/entity/dept combinations multiple times when measures added at same time
[TFS 33261]

Summary: When a user edits an initiative and adds the same measure/entity/dept combination multiple times without saving between additions, when they eventually save the initiative, the save validation error message that displays lists the duplicate combination multiple times instead of once.

Resolution: Corrected in the SM Main template by adding logic so that the Save Validation now only lists duplicate combinations once, regardless of the number of duplicates.

Cost Reduction Status, Initiative Status report - Current period is labeled 'System Period' [TFS 35983]

Summary: In most non-Admin assets, the SM Current Period is displayed. However, on the dashboards, this setting is prefaced with “Current Period:” on reports, this setting is prefaced with “System Period:”

Resolution: Corrected by changing “System Period” to “Current Period” to be consistent across Strategy Management Web Client pages.

In Admin - Maintenance we are using Monthly for a button. Should be something else. [TFS 35952]

Summary: On the Admin - Maintenance page, in the Data Utilities tab, the second button is named “Update Monthly Measure Data.” This is confusing because Frequencies are no longer limited to Monthly.

Resolution: Corrected by changing the utility name to “Update Period Measure Data.”

Settings utility - SM Current Period dropdown defaults to first YRMO in system [TFS 36073]

Summary: On the Admin - Settings page, in the System Settings tab, when an administrator clicks the SM Current Period drop-down to change the Current Period, the focus goes to the first YRMO in the system. The user must then scroll to a more recent period. This is not ideal from a usability perspective, because the user will need to scroll further and further down the list every time they update the current period.

Resolution: Corrected by setting the drop-down list to use the Today() function, which looks up the computer’s date and a bases a YRMO on that.

SM Main Template - Long values run off text boxes on Setup tab for initiatives in last two stages

Summary: When an initiative that has a long name, description, and/or comment, and the initiative is in one of the last two stages (Active Review or Pending Reset), the values run out of the text boxes on the Setup tab.

Resolution: Corrected by increasing the Formatted Grid Setup for the column size.

Perspective Detail Drill: There is no filter on Lists! AQ3 - Objectives for Active=1 (2019.3) [TFS 36375]

Summary: In the Perspectives Detail Drill, when Objectives are brought in unfiltered, it causes a mismatch in the numbers displayed on the chart.

Resolution: Corrected by updating the filter for the Axiom list query (AQ3) on the Control_Sheet to include only active Objectives.

Perspectives Detail Drill: Text for Measures Description gets cut off prematurely [TFS 36376]

Summary: In the Perspective Detail Drill, the descriptions for measures are getting cut off.

Resolution: Corrected by adding text wrapping to the format tag and by setting the row height to be dynamic.

Initiatives Template - 'Value' field doesn't clear formatting, accepts invalid strings [TFS 36393]

Summary: When a user is entering measure data for an Initiative in Active Tracking and they click in the Value field, any formatting for the number is maintained. The user may need to move their cursor and/or delete extra characters to get the value to update. Additionally, a user can enter an invalid value because there is no validation on the field. In that case, the performance icon does not evaluate properly, and an error is thrown when the user saves.

Resolution: Corrected by changing the formatting tag to allow numerical entry only, and by fixing the formula on the Variables sheet.

Initiatives Template - Tooltip for cumulative performance icon displays '[Variable]' [TFS 36394]

Summary: When a user hovers over the cumulative measure performance icon for an initiative in the last three stages, the tooltip reads “[Variable]”.

Resolution: Corrected by updating the formula in the Variables sheet.

Initiatives template - If milestone has no saved comment, single quote displays in last two stages [TFS 36464]

Summary: When a milestone that has no data in the Comment field is advanced to Active Review or Pending Reset, a single quote displays in the Comment field on the Initiative’s Milestones/Measures tab.

Resolution: Corrected by removing the default quote display of the GetData function.

Objectives Home Page - 'Owner' and 'Sponsor' dropdowns contain users from Dev sandbox
[TFS 36655]

Summary: When a user is creating an initiative from SM Home Page – Objectives and selects an Owner or Sponsor, there are multiple extra users available for selection in the Owner and Sponsor fields. These users appear to be from the Dev sandbox.

Resolution: Corrected by fixing an Axiom query that was not cleared after a previous use.

SM User, SM Admin roles - Roles don't have access to KHA Suite product area in new install
[TFS 36827]

Summary: The Strategy Management Admin and Strategy Management User roles do not have access to the Suite Product Area Home page for a new install in a blank system. The result of not having access to this file is that users are taken directly to the Strategy Management product area upon login.

Resolution: Corrected by adding Read Only permissions to the Suite folder under System Files > ZHome Files > Suite for the SM Admin and SM User roles.

Measures utility - Difficult to distinguish perspective/objective names from measures
[TFS 36836]

Summary: When viewing the Perspective Measure or Objective Measure tab in the Admin Measures utility, it can be difficult to distinguish the perspective/objective names from their corresponding measures.

Resolution: Corrected by moving the Add New Measure button below the listed measures, bolding the measure names, and adding a line separator between the listed measures.

Multiple SM Assets - Alignment of measure data values inconsistent across assets [TFS 36998]

Summary: Some of the Axiom Strategy Management assets have measure data values that are left-aligned; others have them right-aligned.

Resolution: Corrected by removing the Alignment Settings and allowing the Data Grid component to set alignment based on type of data.

Measures utility - Unclear which fields are required during measure creation [TFS 37000]

Summary: When creating a measure, it is difficult to discern which fields are required without consulting documentation. Adding to the issue is that the OK button is disabled until all required fields are populated.

Resolution: Corrected by adding red asterisks to the left of required fields.

Initiatives template - Annual measures are editable semi-annually [TFS 38192]

Summary: Users should only be able to enter values for Initiative measures in plan files when the SM Current Period falls at the end of a frequency period. In the case of annual measures, users are currently also able to enter values halfway through the frequency period. (These values save back to the month at the end of the prior frequency period.)

Resolution: Corrected by fixing the code so that the Annual YRMO does not point to the Semi Annual field on the Variables sheet.

Maintenance utility - Error thrown on Process Step tab when client has 500+ initiatives [TFS 38327]

Summary: If a client has more than 500 initiatives, an error is thrown on the Process Step tab of the Maintenance utility. A component data-source is located below an Axiom query that is causing it to dip below row 500 and can then no longer be seen.

Resolution: Corrected by moving the component data source, adding an instructions worksheet, and adjusting the control form to point to the new worksheet for the data source.

2019.3.1 – Known issues resolved

The following table lists the resolutions for issues addressed in 2019.3.1, released on October 14, 2019:

Issue Description Description
Measures utility - Performance may be poor in large systems due to Axiom.FileSystemInfo query
[TFS 39501]

Summary: The Axiom Query that pulls the list of files in the Axiom Strategy Management drills folder can take a long time to execute in large systems licensed for numerous Axiom Software products. This results in the Admin Measures page taking a long time to open.

Resolution: Corrected by reconfiguring the Add New Drill dialog to be free form when adding a new drill, instead of being dependent on files that were in the specified folder path. For instructions on using the revised dialog, refer to the online help topic Add a drill document.

PFB-08022 - Invalid AQ filters on SM Home Page New Installs
[TFS 39754]

Summary: When no Current Period is set on new installations of Axiom Strategy Management 2019.2.2, errors may occur when the Dashboard page is loaded.

Resolution: Corrected by updating the Dashboard variables in the Control Sheet for the affected queries.

SM - Cannot add two milestones on one save in Initiative Plan File
[TFS 39898]

Summary: Within a plan file, if a user attempts to add more than two milestones on one save action, they receive an error.

Resolution: Corrected by updating the code so that it counts all the milestone inserts and applies a unique number to each.

Manual setup instructions

There are no manual setup or configuration steps required for this release.

Known issues

The following table lists the known issues in this release.

Issue Description
Measure Update Form - Paste icon does not work in spreadsheet mode [TFS 22399]

Symptom: When editing results in a spreadsheet, the Copy and Cut icons work while the Paste icon does not. An information dialog displays, explaining that keyboard shortcuts can be used for these actions instead.

Workaround: Can use Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V from the keyboard to copy and paste until resolved.

Explanation: To be addressed in a future release.

Measure Update Form - 'Edit in Spreadsheet' values do not display in form until refresh
[TFS 23525]

Symptom: A user enters values in spreadsheet mode. The values do not immediately populate in the form after completing work in the dialog. To see the updated values, the user needs to refresh the form. This can be done by expanding/collapsing sections.

Explanation: To be addressed in a future release.

Objectives Home Page - Multiple objectives can be highlighted after scrolling in dialog [TFS 23407]

Symptom: When using the scroll bar in the Select Objective dialog, the user can highlight multiple objectives. The most recently made selection is honored when the user clicks Select.

Explanation: To be addressed in a future release.

Web Client Nav Pane - Menu items do not use preferred names [TFS 25211]

Symptom: The Strategy Management-specific version of the Web Client Navigation Pane does not use the preferred names for perspectives, objectives, and initiatives.

Explanation: To be addressed in a future release.

Initiatives Template - Read-only version [TFS 25528]

Symptom: Most of the fields display as white text boxes, indicating they are read-only. The Comments fields on the Resourcing tab, however, display as light blue fields. Elsewhere in the system, light blue fields are often used to indicate text entry.

Explanation: To be addressed in a future release.

Initiative Status Report - Values may overlap in 'Choose a value' dialog when item has long name [TFS 26587]

Symptom: Items with long names may overlap with other items in the Choose a value dialog. This occurs when an item has more characters than can display on a single line.

Explanation: To be addressed in a future release.

Perspectives Home Page, Objectives> Objective Measures & Initiative lose the column headers once you scroll down and it may be confusing to the user [TFS 27175]

Symptom: Location: bottom section of the Perspectives Home Page where the Objectives are listed. From there, expand the Initiatives list and find one that has enough to cause you to scroll down to view more of the list. When you go past a certain point, the Initiative headers disappear.

Explanation: To be addressed in a future release.

Measures Utility - All collapsed sections on tab expand after perspective/objective measure created [TFS 27394]

Symptom: Admins have the option to collapse all the sections on the Perspective Measure and Objective Measure tabs of the Measures Utility. If an Admin expands one section and adds a measure, the tab will reload with all the sections expanded again.

Explanation: To be addressed in a future release.

Objectives Home Page - No results returned if user scrolls, then runs search where number of matches does not require scroll bar [TFS 28213]

Symptom: A user runs a search on the Objectives Home Page. They scroll through the list of objectives, and then enter a search term that matches a small enough number of records to not require a scroll bar. No records are returned even though there are valid records.

Explanation: To be addressed in a future release.

SM Main unhelpful error message when submitting without validation passing [TFS 28280]

Symptom: When submitting a newly created Initiative before saving, if it has some validation exceptions, the system displays an error message at the bottom of the screen.

Explanation: To be addressed in a future release.
