Drilling command

Use the Drilling command to drill the current sheet using drill down, drill through, or custom drilling.

Can be used in

  • Ribbon tabs
  • Task panes

This command is included in the default AxiomMain.AXL ribbon tab, as part of the File Options group.

When the Drilling command is selected from the Command Library as the shortcut target, it displays as command://DrillingCommandAdapter or command://DrillingCommandAdapter (legacy syntax).

Shortcut parameters

This command does not use any shortcut parameters.

Visibility

Items using this command do not display in the following circumstances:

  • The currently active document is not an Axiom spreadsheet file with a Control Sheet.
  • Drilling is disabled for the currently active sheet.

If the item using the command is visible but the current selection in the sheet is not a drillable location, then a message displays to the user when the user attempts to drill.

You can use the Show restricted items option in the task pane or the ribbon tab to force items that use this command to be visible at all times (but grayed out if unavailable).

Remarks

The behavior of the command depends on the context where it is used.

  • Ribbon tabs: Displays the drill menu for the current sheet. Selecting a drill option from the menu initiates a drill based on the currently selected row (or cell, for drill through). If the current selection does not have any eligible drilling options, a message displays on the drill menu.

  • Task panes: Double-clicking this item initiates a drill on the currently selected row (or cell, for drill through). This works just as if the user had double-clicked the row or cell.

Double-click drilling must be enabled in order to use the command in a task pane. This means that either Axiom Double-Click must be enabled on the Control Sheet (for drill down and drill through), or that Double-click to drill must be enabled on the Drilling Control Sheet (for custom drilling).
