Viewing the client log file

The Axiom Software Client log file tracks information about the current session. When troubleshooting an issue, it may be useful to view the log file. In some cases, Axiom Software Support may request that you send them a copy of this file. By default, log files are available for 15 days before they are overwritten.

From within the Desktop ClientGeneral term for using either the Excel Client or the Windows Client, both of which are installed to the user's desktop., you can open the log file in one of two ways—as a flat file within a spreadsheet, or displayed within a searchable log analyzer.

To open the log file:

  • In the Axiom tab, in the Help group, click the down arrow at the bottom of the Help button, and then click either of the following: View client log file or Log File Analyzer.

    NOTE: In systems with installed products, these features may be located on a different tab.

If you select View client log file, the log file opens in a spreadsheet. If you need to send a copy of the log file to support, you can use the email snapshot feature.

If you select Log File Analyzer, a dialog opens to allow you to filter and browse the log contents, and perform other activities such as clearing the log file. This view is helpful if you need to find a particular item in the log.
